Passionate, dedicated and solid, Jairaj Swann is a versatile bassist with a variety of influences. Born in Augusta, Georgia, and raised in Massachusetts from the age of 5, his early exposure to southern R&B and funk and later introduction to jazz and blues helped to develop his voice on his instrument.
After 22 years living in Boston, Jairaj returned to Georgia in 2000 to reconnect with his roots. Based out of Atlanta and Lexington, he has been active on the music scene playing with bands including The Michael Levine Band, The Subject, Jake Sharp Band and Coy Bowles (Zac Brown Band).
Jairaj cites his strongest musical influences as Anthony Jackson, James Jamerson, Pino Palladino, Donald “Duck” Dunn and Jaco Pastorius.
